Frequently Asked Questions
- I have downloaded an application for my child, what do I do now?
Once you have filled out one application for each camper, you can mail in each application with the $60 registration fee to 12125 SW 107 Ave. Miami 33176.
- What do I need to send in with the application?
Along with the application please send the registration fee and a clear understanding of what your current payment is going towards.
- When will I know if my child has been accepted into the summer camp program?
All campers are accepted. Registration begins April 1st and goes through the summer. If you included an email address on your application, you will receive confirmation of your registration via email. If the camp reaches capacity, then you will be notified immediately that there is no longer space available.
- What does my child need to bring the first day of camp and there after?
We always recommend a change of clothes (especially for the younger campers), a water bottle, a snack, or anything else you think your child may need. We discourage campers bringing any toys, bolls, game boys, or any other items that may be lost or damaged at camp.
- Is lunch provided at Camp Rejoice?
We have a catering company called Nutrilicious. They have very “kid friendly” food. Once the summer camp begins, a menu will be posted for the entire summer.
- When do I pay for lunch?
All lunch payments are made along with the weekly payments – prior to the Monday that your child will attend.
- Do I need to pay all the weeks my child will attend in advance with the registration form?
NO. We go on a weekly basis – you pay as you go. You only pay for the weeks your child will attend. If you wish to pre-pay the weekly, lunch, or morning/aftercare fees you may do so but it is not required.
- My 15 + year old child would like to volunteer as a
counselor in training. What does he/she need to do?
Your child needs to fill out an application, which can be downloaded from this page. Once
his/her application is received they will need to attend the staff
meeting for C.I.T.’s. At the meeting (date is posted
on our website) they will receive all the information needed.
- What is the lunch menu?
Examples of our lunch menu may include: pasta, hotdogs, hamburgers, tacos, chicken nuggets, pizza, etc. These foods are baked not fried.
- What is the best way to get in touch with one of the camp directors?
Prior to the summer camp starting it is very difficult to return phone calls. We are both full time teachers and we are unable to make or receive any calls until after 4pm. At this point email is the best form of communication (camprejoice@gmail.com). Once the school year is over and camp begins, we can be reached immediately at (305) 254-2202 (camp office) or (305) 323-8252 (emergency cell phone). The St. John Neumann School, Church or CCD offices do not have any information other than directing you to our website.
- Can all children attend Camp Rejoice or do they have to be members of the parish?
All children are welcome – ages 3 through 13 years old.
- Where do I take my child the first day he/she attends camp?
If you enter through the main entrance of the school building there will be someone stationed there directing you to where your child belongs.
- Do I need to pay all eight weeks even if my child does not attend?
NO. You only pay for the weeks your child will be attending.
- What if we are not sure about our vacation dates? How do we communicate that to you?
We do not need to know in advance the dates your child will not attend camp. When you make your payments you simply pay for the dates your child will be coming to camp. Again, we go on a week to week basis, so you pay as you go.
- How many children are in each group, and how are they divided?
Each group has about 20-25 campers. They are divided up as follows: 3 & 4 yr. old girls and boys, 5 & 6 yr old girls, 5 & 6 yr. old boys, 7 & 8 yr. old girls, 7 & 8 yr. old boys, 9 & 10 yr. old girls, 9 & 10 yr. old boys, 11, 12 & 13 yr. old girls, and 11, 12 & 13 yr. old boys.
- How many counselors are supervising each group and what are their credentials?
Each group ages 5-13 yrs old has one head counselor and an assistant counselor. The 3 & 4 yr. old group has two head counselor and two assistants. All head counselors are 18 years of age and older. Our staff consists of certified school teachers, college students (mostly education majors), and athletic coaches. All staff members are interviewed, reference checked, and finger printed.

YES. All fieldtrips are included in the weekly camp fee.

YES. Although we play many sports and go on various fieldtrip, we try to incorporate our faith into all camp activities. Children of all religious beliefs are welcome.
- Can I visit the campus to see where my child will be during the summer time?
While the school year is going on it is very difficult to visit the campus because there are classes going on. Once the school year is over, you are more than welcome to come by.
- How are the campers transported for fieldtrips?
We use an insured bus company that is approved by the Dade County School Board. The buses pick us up at camp and transport the campers to and from all fieldtrips.
- Can a parent attend a camp fieldtrip?
All parents are more than welcome to attend any fieldtrip. We ask that you follow in your car and pay your own entrance to each fieldtrip you will attend.
- What if I do not want my child to attend a specific fieldtrip?
If a child stays behind from a fieldtrip, they will stay on campus as if it were a regular camp day. Please be aware that the children that stay behind will be mixed together (ages 5 – 13 yrs old). 3 & 4 yr. old campers do not attend off campus fieldtrips.
- What should I send with my child if he/she is in the 3 & 4 yr. old group?
Campers ages 3 & 4 years old need a change of clothes (that will stay in there cubbies), a daily snack, and a sleeping bag for “rest time”.
- When do I receive my Childs t-shirt(s)?
Each child will receive there t-shirt(s) the first day that they attend camp.
- Do you offer a sibling discount?
Unfortunately we do not offer a sibling discount. We try to keep our prices so affordable that it is just not feasible for us.
- Do all campers have to be at camp by 8am?
Our regular camp hours are from 8am-4pm. During this time all camp activities are going on. Although this is not like school that they need to be in before the bell rings, we do ask that on fieldtrip days your child arrive by 8:30am.
- Does my child need any money during the time they are at camp? What about on the fieldtrips?
While your child is at camp the only thing they are able to purchase (once per day) is a snack. We sell snacks that range from $.25 to $1. Please do not send your child with large amounts of money.
